BLUE HAWK Gives Back 2026
In 2026, BLUE HAWK Gives Back is proud to partner with ALS United Orange County.
Each year, BLUE HAWK aligns with a charitable organization that reflects the values of the BLUE HAWK community. This year, BLUE HAWK has chosen a cause that is deeply personal to a member of the BLUE HAWK family. We are honored to support ALS United Orange County in memory of Kay Francisco, wife of Alfred Francisco of Geary Pacific, making this partnership especially meaningful.
ALS United Orange County is dedicated to ending ALS while supporting people living with the disease today. Through critical research funding, comprehensive care services, and strong advocacy efforts, ALS United works to improve quality of life for patients and caregivers while driving progress toward treatments and a cure.
Together, BLUE HAWK is honored to support this important cause and stand alongside those affected by ALS.

Kay Francisco
This letter was written by the late Kay Francisco, the beloved wife of Alfred Francisco, a member of the BLUE HAWK team. Kay passed away in September 2022 after a courageous battle with ALS.
Kay’s words are a gift. They reflect love, resilience, and the quiet strength carried by so many individuals and families living with ALS. Her journey, and the journeys of countless others still facing this disease, are the reason ALS United Orange County exists.
We share Kay’s letter in her honor and in memory of all those we have lost, and to shine a light on the families who continue to walk this path every day. With the support of our community, we remain committed to providing care, resources, and hope to ALS families across Orange County. Together, we can carry forward Kay’s legacy of compassion and ensure no family faces ALS alone.
Our reason for being . . .
My name is Kay Francisco, and I was diagnosed with ALS in May of 2017. At first, it seemed like a nerve issue, but over the course of 2016 and early 2017 and many doctors' visits, the diagnosis was confirmed. My husband, Alfred, and our kids, Alex, Bethany, Joshua, and Bekah have always made a great team and we're approaching my care in the same way. Our team includes the ALS Clinic professionals at UCI Medical Center, ALS United Orange County, our family, church, and friends, all of whom have rallied around us to provide support the way of love, prayers, and care.
Prior to diagnosis, I ran a home day care, which allowed me to be home for my own kids, as well as share our family's love with others. Opening our home to so many kids was such a blessing and continues to be. Being home also let me support my kids, especially during their junior high and high school years. For our family, these are some of our best memories–marching band and winter guard competitions, Friday night football games, and yes, even the many planning meetings for fundraisers. We have always been involved in serving at our home church in many capacities and ministries as well.
At the beginning of this journey, we read a quote from another PALS (person with ALS) and his wife that has become very meaningful to us. In part, it reads, "Now is the time to live. We have ALS, but ALS does not have us."
As Christians, we are praying for the best, but as human beings, we're also planning for the potentially not-so-great.
We adopted Romans 15:13 as our team verse, "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
Hope. Joy. Peace. Trust. Power. Some of things that we rely on as we battle ALS.
We are so grateful to the ALS United Orange County for helping us with equipment and supplies, introducing us to members of our caregiving team and guidance and support on this journey. We are thankful we don’t have to navigate this alone. It gives us a bit of peace of mind and allows us to tackle some of the other issues that ALS families struggle with.
Having ALS United Orange County on our team also reminds me a quote my friend Bill once shared with me. "When 'I' is replaced by 'we', even 'illness' becomes 'wellness'.
